Zeiss Visual Field Analyzer
Our recently upgraded visual field analyzer has all of the technological capabilities of our previous unit but it now has a smaller more comfortable footprint, protective shields to allow for separation between the patient and the technician, and, most importantly, software upgrades that reduce the time needed to complete each test. This instrument allows Dr. Hyman to assess peripheral vision loss. Conditions that cause peripheral vision loss include glaucoma, brain tumors and strokes. Early detection of these conditions can be potentially vision and/or lifesaving to the patient. It can also detect eye damage caused by side effects from systemic medications like Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine).
Maestro2 Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
This instrument is the most recent addition to our state-of-the-art examination technology. The Maestro2 is a dual-purpose instrument capable of taking digital photographs of both the front and back surfaces of the eye as well as using eye scan technology that uses light waves to allow Dr. Hyman to see beneath the surface of the eye. The scans are quick, safe, and painless and enable a more in-depth evaluation of diseases like macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma.
