Sean Hyman O.D.

Dr. Sean Hyman was born and raised in Northeast Philadelphia. He graduated magna cum laude from Albright College in 1992. While at Albright he met his future wife, Reading native Kristine. They are the proud parents of their daughter Alexa.

Dr. Hyman then returned to Philadelphia to complete his doctoral studies at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He received an additional bachelor’s degree in visual science and a Doctor of Optometry degree in 1996. Shortly after graduation, Dr. Hyman returned to Reading and was employed by a group ophthalmology practice in Wyomissing. In October 2004, Dr. Hyman left the group to open Elite Eyecare.

Dr. Hyman examines patients ages 5 and older. The office handles all non-surgical aspects of eye care including but not limited to the prescription of eyeglasses and contact lenses, the treatment of eye diseases like conjunctivitis and glaucoma, and the possible detection of diseases like diabetes, MS and brain tumors.

Dr. Hyman served 2 terms as president of the Berks County Optometric Society. He was selected by his local peers as the Berks County Optometrist of the year in 2012. He is also active in the local community having served as a member, vice president and president for the Reading Hose Volunteer Fire Company #1 for 30 years, a member of the board of education in the Reading School District and the chairman of the Reading-Muhlenberg Vocational Technical School and, most recently, as a member of the board of the Crestwood Swimming Pool Association.
